This course is ideal for anyone wishing to learn First Aid for the first time, or maybe wish to brush up their skills. Many lorry, taxi and bus/coach drivers are attending, in case of an emergency whilst travelling.
The Health & Safety Executive class an Appointed Person as ‘someone you choose to take charge when someone is injured or falls ill, including calling an ambulance if required’ and to manage the first-aid equipment, (e.g. restocking the first-aid box)
This course is ideal for 'nominated' persons or for people who provide support to qualified first aiders at their place of work or activity. This may suitable for: -

- Offices (small to large)
- Construction workers
- Self Employed workers
- Care / Residential workers
- Churches / Voluntary Group helpers
- Professional Drivers
This course has a contact teaching time of 4 hours. It combines basic theory and practical application to hone skills learnt. The AP course covers: -
Duties of an Appointed Person:
- Management of an incident
- Health and safety (first aid) regulations
- First Aid priorities (DRAB)
- Resuscitation of an adult
- Treatment of an unconscious casualty
- Shock
- Wounds and Bleeding
- Common workplace injuries.
Every candidate will be issued a Certificate of Attendance, valid for 3 years and a personal resuscitation shield (for use in the event of an emergency after the course)
