Emergency Life Support

Emergency Life Support (ELS) is knowing how to take prompt, effective action in the event of a life threatening situation.

Candidates will acquire the skills needed to maintain circulation of oxygen to the patient’s vital organs. Statistics show ELS is a crucial and valuable asset to any life threatening situation, until the emergency services arrive. This could be as a result of a

  • Cardiac Arrest (breathing and heart stops)
  • Choking (a partial of full obstruction of the airway)
  • Unconscious casualty who has a closed airway

The ELS course ensures that candidates will react confidently and competently in response to sudden collapse or cardiac arrest. No prior knowledge is needed. Course content includes:

  • Causes and prevalence of cardiac arrest
  • Risks to the rescuer
  • How to confirm cardiac arrest
  • How to open the airway
  • Rescue breathing
  • Chest compressions
  • The recovery position
  • How to confidfently manage a choking casualty

We believe practical application hones this skill, therefore candidates will be given ample opportunity to practice their new skills, using lifelike resuscitation training manikins.

Every candidate will be issued a Certificate of Attendance, valid for 12 months and a personal resuscitation shield (for use in the event of an emergency after the course)

This course may also be linked with Automated External Defibrillation (AED) course, for those who have access to an AED. Should you require ELS training on an annual basis, we would be more than happy to discuss an annual timetable for maintaining a high standard of ELS throughout the year. The course duration is 2 to 3 hours, tailored to fit the individual.
