Paediatric First Aid for Infants & Children

Our Paediatric First Aid Course is ideal course that care for infants and children, either at home, voluntary groups or place of work.

Specifically designed for nursery staff (private and public), childminders, nannies, anyone employed in child care, schools, voluntary groups, church groups, aswell as mother & toddler groups.

This 12 hour course meets the requirements and criteria, set out by OFSTED and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Taught generally over two days, there is a mixture of theory and practical application, with competency based on continual visual assessment. There is no final exam.

The course content will include, planning for first aid emergencies, in addition to

Recognition and management of: -

  • Resuscitation of Child and Infant
  • Shock
  • Anaphylactic shock
  • Wounds & bleeding
  • Burns and scalds
  • Choking
  • Suspected fractures
  • Head, neck and back injuries
  • Suspected poisoning
  • Foreign bodies in eyes, ears and noses
  • Eye injuries
  • Bites and stings
  • Extremes of heat and cold
  • Febrile convulsions
  • Emergency needs with chronic medical conditions including: - epilepsy, asthma, sickle cell, diabetes
  • Meningitis and other serious sudden illness

Upon successful completion of this course, every candidate will be issued a Certificate of Attendance, valid for 3 years and will receive a personal resuscitation shield (for use in the event of an emergency, after the course).
